Canada Student Visa – Document Checklist & Estimated Expenses

Canada is one of the top destinations for international students due to its quality education and post-study work opportunities. To study in Canada, you need to prepare a complete set of documents and a financial plan for visa and initial settlement.

Below is the document checklist for both Bachelor’s and Master’s programs, followed by a breakdown of the estimated expenses.


Document Checklist for Canada Student Visa

For Bachelor’s Programs

  • Passport (valid)
  • 10th & 12th Mark Sheets
  • School Leaving Certificate
  • Transcript from School (sealed)
  • IELTS Scorecard (minimum band varies by program)
  • Statement of Purpose (SOP)
  • Letter of Recommendation (LORs) – 2 to 3 from school teachers
  • Resume
  • Proof of Funds (Bank Balance, Education Loan, etc.)
  • Affidavit of Support
  • Tuition Fee Receipt / Payment Confirmation
  • College/University Offer Letter
  • GIC Certificate (CAD 10,000 mandatory under SDS route)
  • Medical Exam Receipt (from approved panel physician)
  • Visa Application Form (IMM 1294)
  • Family Information Form (IMM 5645)
  • Passport Size Photos (as per IRCC specifications)

For Master’s Programs

  • Passport
  • 10th, 12th, and Bachelor’s Mark Sheets
  • Degree Certificate / Provisional Certificate
  • Transcript from University (sealed)
  • IELTS / TOEFL / PTE Scorecard
  • GRE / GMAT Scorecard (if required)
  • SOP (Statement of Purpose)
  • LORs – 2-3 from university faculty or employer
  • Resume / CV
  • Proof of Funds (Bank Statement or Loan)
  • Affidavit of Support
  • GIC Certificate (CAD 10,000 – SDS requirement)
  • Tuition Fee Receipt
  • Offer Letter from Canadian University
  • Medical Exam Receipt (IME)
  • Visa Application Forms (IMM 1294, IMM 5645)
  • Digital Photos (as per IRCC guidelines)

  • Salary Slips (last 6 months)
  • Employment Letter / Experience Certificate
  • Income Tax Returns (last 2–3 years)

 If Self-Employed/Business Owner:

  • Business Registration / GST / License

  • CA Statement of Assets & Liabilities
  • Bank Statements (6 months)

 If from Agriculture Background:

  • Land Ownership Documents (7/12 extract, 8A form)
